Ok, partially. The log i sent you was when i started kicker manually on the 
command-line ( after i've killed the actual one ). The panel setup is like it 
should be ( immutable ) but it is different from the one i get when i login 
via kdm. So maybe the env vars didn't get set at the right time. I've put 
them in /etc/profile.local and /etc/bash.bashrc.local. Any ideas ?
