Just had a  look at the VTK designer webpage.  Placing the URL
below so that others need not google for it:

Also downloaded the tarball. It  seems I need to install Cmake
and doxygen  on my box to  compile it. Would give  it a whirl.
Till then,  the screenshots  look real  impressive. Yet  to go
through the writeup on the web page in detail.

Actually, a fair amount of  homework would be needed since VTK
(Visualisation Toolkit)  by itself is another  unknown beast !
Does seem to be a  powerful tool for the scientific/ technical
community. Will catch up at your talk tomorrow ...
