Missing Support for en-AU

Hi guys,

Sorry if this is the wrong place but someone over on 
discuss.kde.org/t/english-australia-missing/47400 told me this would be 
the best place to go.

Plasma prior to the version that features on Fedora 44 has lost support 
for en-AU. Now on Fedora 43, 42 and other distros (at the time of 
usage), Plasma worked flawlessly with en-AU, spelling was the correct 
spelling (based on en-GB), currency was correct ($), used kilometers 
instead of miles, etc,etc. After both upgrading from 43 to 44 and a 
whole fresh reinstall of 44, Plasma complains the en-AU is unsupported 
and (although doesn't change the setting itself) defaults back to en-US. 
Initially I thought this may be a Fedora issue but en-AU is in the 
locale directory and a friend whom is on Arch has recently switched to 
LXQt due to the fact Plasma won't work with en-AU anymore so this isn't 
distro specific.


People have recommended just setting en-GB as the language and manually 
set all other optio
ns as Australian however many programs aren't 
respecting my manual choices and defaults to en-GB's default locales 
(miles instead of kilometers, pounds instead of dollars). Someone else 
suggesting forcing en-AU but setting it through the terminal but that is 
what was already happening when I upgraded from 43 to 44 and that just 
defaulted to US.


I've been using Plasma since version 4 and never had issues with en-AU, 
but going by many reports dating back to 2009, Plasma never supported 
en-AU, so I want to know what happened? Why did en-AU work for me for 
over 15 years, worked for many of my colleges and mates and what change 
that broke this?


I would like to help to fix this but I can't wrap my head around 
l10n.kde.org (for starters I can't find English options under "your 
translation team"). What can we do to fix this issue with en-AU because 
it's made my experience unusable along with mates who are on rolling 
release distros? I had assignments due and
 none of my spelling and 
grammar tools where working properly and had either wrong spelling (US 
spelling which we get major mark downs which are typically enough to 
fail a subject or assignment) or would shift things to Imperial and 
break conversions I had set up. And no, not all of my programs can have 
their language settings changed manually and even so doing this on all 
of my devices is not realistic.
