Dear everyone,

Here is minutes from the i18n BoF during Akademy 2024.

Migration of translations from SVN to Git
- Blocker: tooling (tosky and tsdgeos) -> renaming of PO files, history
preservation, others
- Wiki page for documentation, statistics webpage needs to point Git instead
- Possibly lower the barrier for new translation teams

SPDX
- We want to support SPDX in the PO files
- Lokalize has SPDX support
- gettext SPDX support is required, but we can do it in our tooling
- Git commit hooks to enforce SPDX? CI job in GitLab is doable

Translator-developer communication
- Let's not be shy regarding communications through emails and chats
- Word context problem, length of translation and UI breakage

Translation of Qt
- Contribution to Qt translation is even harder than KDE's
- Our translations are coming also from Qt and it is hard to update the Qt's
translation
- Something related to QML (from Volker)

LLMs and translations
- Some teams may use it internally
- Possibly new opportunities and problems?

Status of German translation team
- New coordinator appeared
- They use Phabricator as a part the workflow
- Further discussion during Akademy

Shinjo
