@Burkhard: Can not repro your problem, having "Ctrl+2" untranslated in japanase
(like it is in the repos at the moment) still makes 2 and Ctrl+2 work
About the bug in general, can not reproduce the problem either without
"breaking the translations", that is, translating "Ctrl+2" as "LALAL+2".
You guys having the original bug can you please run
msgunfmt /usr/share/locale/de/LC_MESSAGES/kcalc.mo | grep Ctrl | grep -A 1
msgid
and
msgunfmt /usr/share/locale/de/LC_MESSAGES/kdeqt.mo | grep \"Ctrl\" | grep -A 1
msgid
And paste the results? Also it'd be good to know your kdelibs and Qt versions
