Hi Jens,
you are very welcome! I think we all agree in your reasoning about the importance
of usability (the actual workflow, primarily related to usability experts),
functionality (use of controls and common interactions for devs), and user
experience (about look and feel, of interest for designers, translators etc.). This
trinity is well addressed by Baxley which we choose as basis for our HIG [1].
As far as I see you were primarily talking about the presentation layer in
particular about Style. And I fully agree that 'KDE provides full theming[1] to
users.' could be improved.
When it comes to 'various pop-ups' I'd like to go into detail. Basically, something
pops-up in case of user-driven information, usually a tool-tip, or when the system
has something to tell, i.e. via message panel or notification. Perhaps you could
integrate your ideas into this consideration [2].
Again, its great to have more people on this list, and especially designers are
rare companions this days.
