Thanks for taking a look, Johannes.  I have been experimenting with
different physical sizes (in pixels), different fields of view and different
magnification.  I found a magnifier which covered about 9-10 pieces at
full life-size was very useful for finding small pieces on a table containing
1008 pieces and finding where to insert them in the solution.  It beats
repeated scrolling and mouse-wheeling in that size of puzzle.  I am also
experimenting with multiple magnifier views.

Heh! ... :-)  I might even like to throw away the QFrame ... :-)  Anyway,
mine is one of those thin, flat, rectangular, Fresnel-lens magnifiers ...
