[Kde-games-devel] The State of KNetwalk

Hello Fela and and other games dudes,

I'm wondering what the current maintainership status is for KNetwalk?
It seems like other than scripty and minor fixes by others, it hasn't
really seen much work in over a year. It could be that Fela is just
happy with the current state, but that's not really the impression I'm
getting.

Lately, I've accumulated a list of things I'd like to
fix/improve/change in KNetwalk. I also think it might be worthwhile to
do an incremental rewrite to newer technologies. If Fela is still the
active maintainer then he'll obviously have to approve all patches.
However, if KNetwalk is essentially unmaintained, then I think I'll
just go ahead and make changes as I see fit.

If you happen to be interested, here's a short list of some of the
things I'd like to do:
 * Modify how moves are counted to reduce frustration due to misclicks. [1][2]
 * Modify the score calculation to give to-the-second resolution. [3]
 * Increase fairness across games by making each game require the
exact same number of moves and an equal distribution of left, right
and double-clicks.
 * Increase fairness across games by preventing the generation of
games with empty cells. [4]
 * Maybe a rewrite to QGraphicsView. [5][6]

number two on this report has to be the most insulting bug comment
I've ever received. :|

[5] Did you know that KNetwalk uses QWidgets to draw the play area?
[6] This would probably fix https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=190486
