Well, my point is that external backs are not the right way, since you can have
tall thin card decks or wide fat card decks, and you cannot really
graft any card back to any card deck design.
Or you can have fancy decks with strange shapes...
By splitting fronts from backs, we limit the deck designs that can be used.

How can you use the same back for all of these card decks?

Notice I ship four back variations in each deck (they have simply
different colours, but that is just because i did not bother with
anything fancier) and there is no need to restrict ourselves to that.
It's just as easy to ship ten back designs.

So I'd rather ship the appropriate backs within the same file -- there
is no way the back for Tigullio Rounded will be useful for other card
decks and vice versa.

If anything, we should allow the decks to provide also the placeholder
shape that is drawn over the background...

Obviously it's not to be done for next release, but I think we should
really drop the "decks" directory in 4.3, and provide a way to select
the back variants from the card requester, if it's really needed. I'm
not really that much interested in having back variants, myself, as
long as the default one is reasonable, but choice is good, isn't it?
