It is not a regression imo, it was a design decision. When rewriting
KMines for KDE4 we removed the AI, there is no solver anymore. It is an
interesting exercise in programming, but we decided that the computer
already "knows" the whole board, and it simply tells the user about the
progress of the game. I do not see a need for an AI currently, but if
you have a concrete user case for it, who knows?

The themes can be made by anyone. For 4.2 we are going to add (maybe in
Akademy next week?) the ability to use the KNewStuff server, so just
start doing your theme and it will be included.
