cmake 4.0.0 was released over a year ago at this point (2025/03/27). There are
some new features/functionality available in cmake 4.x which are not available
in cmake 3.x (which is what FreeBSD distributes today). I realize the "uplift"
probably is non-trivial, but it would be nice to have a modern version of cmake
today in order for downstream maintainers to use newer idioms available in the
meta-language.
