for moving a Window in KDE 3.5 I was aware of the methods 1) and 2):

1)
left click in the titel-bar and move the window around
while hold down left mouse button (ofc moving stops at the upper border
of the screen)

2)
bring up the menue by right click in any window border, select 'Move'
from menu; the pointer centers in this case in the window and you can
move the window, but only up to the point where titel bar touches the
upper border of the screen;

3)
what I now have learned (alt + left click to move a window) bahaves
nearly as 2) but you can move the titel bar out of the screen (which
solves my problem);

but: why has 2) this limitation of the upper border of screen?

Thx in any case for your hint
