no, not at all.

as long as we present achievable learning curves, everyone will benefit. and 
it's very cool that you are taking the time to do things like look through the 
commit logs of branches for merging. it definitely adds a lot.

git can present a very steep learning curve, however, and we've found that we 
lose contribution due to percieve complexity when it's thrust too heavily in 
front of people. that's all i was trying to get at, not that people should be 
encouraged to underachieve :)
