It doesn't confuse me, but in practice 99% of the event specific stuff has to 
do with promo and 99% of generic promo talk is useful for events as well.

I can see why the distinction was made and would support it if the traffic was 
targetted, but there doesn't seem to be a practical need, use or benefit.
