Spaced repetition and Leitner boxes

Hi,

I think it'd be better if we could get learners to go through higher
frequency of repetition of words in the beginning stage, as you mentioned,
but without changing a lot in the existing implementation. So, 1) could be
a good way IMO, provided we can make it look good in the UI. Boxes provide
a quasi-tangible means of understanding the spaced repetition system for
the users, and also provides them a sense of leveling up and achieving
something.

A way to make it look good would be to use two colors for the stats, eg
green and red. One of the color shows the 'learning stage' boxes ( < 1 day
interval ), and the other denotes the long term memory ones.

During the practice, we would show just one set of 7-8 boxes out of the
14-15, these could be marked as level 1 and 2 boxes, or be lighted in
different colors to denote the 2 levels (red when things get serious, for
eg). Or we could just show one box with the current grade (former seems
better imo). Either of these could help unclutter the UI.
