Amanda told me about Akademy 2010, and when I saw the main topics
(specially the "Connecting Our World: Social Desktop"), I thought that
this new KEduca ideas would fit perfectly on a paper to be presented.

Talk Title: A Social and clouded new approach to KDE-Edu

Abstract:
As we go towards on the usage of open source in educational projects
with huge deployments, we need to not only provide good educational
softwares, but ways to deliver content among software. A new, revamped
KEduca looks like the perfect application to provide a platform, that
will accomplish this goal, together with a remote portal/repository,
where users/teachers can share or improve shared classes.

About me
When I first used open source software, it was most about servers.
Soon, I got to use as my desktop. After this, I saw the possibility to
use it for educational purposes. I always liked the idea of education
+ computers. Unfortunately, I couldn't always work directly with open
source, and web development took place for a few years in my career.
Right now I work where I always wanted: a small yet innovative Linux
Based company (Metasys Linux), aimed to deliver Educational Systems to
government projects with about 50.000 delivered desktops (netbooks and
desktops), and about 200.000 to deliver by the end of this year. All
of them with KDE.

References
As an Open Source activist, I went to some nice events in Brazil:
FISL, Latinoware and other local events. The last event was
Latinoware, Where I got to know Anne Marie, Sandro Andrade, Tomaz
Canabrava, Adrian de Groot, KDHelio Castro and others, just to name a
few. After that, I decided to work closely with KDE-EDU crew.
