I am a mature user of Linux under KDE (I do use Gnome sometimes though),
based in India. The Chapter1 Introduction
of your Plasma documentation  (Help Center), should start with a clear
and brief answer to the question "What is
Plasma ?"  This is a fundamental information, necessary for a better
understanding of KDE etc.
