We can support this, the complicated part is backporting some tools on the
machine which generates the scripts.

My solution, which could be implemented also when we had just two branches,
is: display an application-centric view, not a branch-centric. For each
application, the stable documentation (be it kdelibs4 or KF5, or the last
stable version of both if both supported) and the devel doc can be chosen.
