You can connect to AOL with Linux. But I suggest you find a better provider 
anyway. AOL is really the worst provider around.

write KDE's documentation. You asked it on the wrong list.

Anyway, here is my attempt to help you. Are you sure that AOL uses CHAP 
authentication ? If not, please run kppp, select "configuration", open your 
AOL "account", and change authentication method to what AOL really uses.
