blocked by a Rust build error introduced by the same Qt 6.12 image update:

Missing backport to the release branch, fixed meanwhile. And that also turned 
out to be the cause of all other PIM build errors below.

that's the vastly cheaper way to deal with this rather than the suggested 
nightly Flatpak runtime.
