I've experienced the exact opposite. I found that I needed to use a "Cygwin
Setup" only (couldn't download file by file) to avoid this problem
I also had to change the group on the whole cygwin installation as this was
set to ???????? instead of the correct value for my user.
In addition I had to correct the profile+++ files to ensure correct search
paths.
I am now having a problem with the qt libraries. I can't build KDBG
because configure can't find the libraries. So the question
is now? what is the library path for that.

Subject: XshmAttach message even after installing kde-x as FAQ states
I downloaded and installed via cygwin setup, the KDE 2.2.2 b1 package and
all necessary material as per the requirements doc. I got the XshmAttach
message, went to the FAQ, & saw what to do. I went back to the cygwin setup
and saw that kde-x 1.3 was installed already. So I downloaded it separately
from sourceforge, upzipped it off the / directory and I still get the
message.
Any ideas?
