run konsole, there call "kwin --replace &" - watch the output. in doubt
run kdebugdialog and enable everything "kwin" related (namely 1212) -
"kwin4" is a game and not related.

no.

Since it's either a deco issue or kwin segfaults, for the first case
try "kcmshell4 kwindecoration" and select something other than oxygen.
This way you'll at least have a decoration again until you figure the
issue (since you compiled yourself most likely an outdated oxygen
decoration is somewhere in the plugin path)

"kde4-config --path lib" in a "kde4" subdir you'll find the deco
libraries, prefixed "kwin3_"
