Hm, I don't see any code that handles the native xorg case. On my system 
(openSUSE 11.3) all Wacom tablet handling is built into xorg, and there is no 
xsetwacom package any longer.

I don't know if other distributions stopped shipping separate Wacom tools, or 
if they will do in the future, but you should look if it is possible to add 
support for XInput to the daemon.
