Hallo Michael,
I have applied your patch and tested it with the english documentation and
some language documentation.
I like the new design but noticed two problems:
1) You changed footer.teamname from "KDE Docs Team" in
kdelibs/kdoctools/docbook/xsl/common/en.xml to "software author" in
kdoctools/customization/kde-chunk.xsl.
I'd like to leave it as "KDE Docs Team" and this entry needs to be defined as
now in kdoctools/docbook/xsl/common/en.xml to make it translatable.
2) A documentation generated with meinproc4 path/to/index.docbook looks
different wrt the position of header/footer and navigation elements, see
attached screenshot.
