synaptiks – KDE touchpad management

Welcome, it's always good to have more configuration options, and we really do 
need easy touchpad configuration as part of our base install (i.e. I need it 
:-).

My one question is how does this compare to kcm_touchpad which the kubuntu 
guys use (http://www.kde-apps.org/content/show.php?content=113335)?  Which is 
more mature, which has better features, which has a better architecture, which 
has better usability, etc?  Could the projects be merged?  

From a quick look at screenshots, synaptiks does seem to come out ahead on 
features, but problems with my MacBook config mean I can't do a compare.

It may seem harsh, but if we include one we should include the best ;-)
