I like this metaphor. I always wanted a way to be notified of emails 
matching some specific criteria, or messages in a specific irc 
channel... the hard part is designing a ui for this which would not be 
overly complex.

On the topic of profiles, Aaron started a class named 
KNotificationRestrictions, which can be used to disable screensaver and 
(not working right now, iirc) notifications. This is a first step toward 
a Presentation mode. I am already using it in Gwenview to prevent 
screensaver from showing up in fullscreen mode.
