(As a sidenote, I guess the "volume (xxx)" issue should be gone now thanks to 
Albert's work on description()).

Seems rather specific to the device automounter then (not sure there's 
something else with such a long term scope just yet), so I'd keep this logic 
there for now. With description(), vendor() and model() being available on 
Device you've everything at hand I think.
