It's not just an integration issue. It's also a user experience issue.
If I click on a 20MB PDF in Firefox, it must download the entire thing
before handing it off to Okular, which can me a considerable delay.
With Konqueror, the URL is just handed to Okular which can then
display the document as it is downloaded. By the time I've got a page
or two read, the documents already there. There are similar cases for
video, audio, etc. It's a really, really great feature.
