Well, unless you keep the arrows as separators in the line edit (maybe a
good idea?), it will be more than a few px ;-). Certainly for long paths...
Oh, and... keep in mind that you don't have to have an actual tablet to
be "using a tablet" :-)... e.g. VM, VNC, maybe even things like xnest.

Arranging so that the text doesn't jump would be best. (Also because it
is less 'visually jarring'.) Do-able? Maybe... :-)
