[PATCH] Add option to use traditional binary units instead of kibibytes

well there is: i have implemented this before in a more complete way but have not yet been able to provide tests as David asked me to. Please have a look at this post for the patch:

If you don't have any objections, i'll try and come up with proper tests by end of the week and commit this, with some fixes.
