Thumbnailer for directories

Do you mean the konqueror-KDE3 feature ("Directory show contents" or whatever
it was called -- iirc it gave it the icon of the most common mimetype inside
the directory, but better double check to be sure, I didn't use it myself),

or more the Windows XP-like feature (a 2x2 tile with the previews of the first 4 items?)

In any case, this wasn't done by kio_thumbnail in kde3 afaik, but by libkonq code,
however I don't see why it couldn't be done by kio_thumbnail and KIO::PreviewJob,
using the inode/directory mimetype...
