So we had a discussion on IRC about the problems. I just wanted to let you 
know that I wrote an app that loads the SVG and PNG versions of a same icon 
next to another to check the differences.


after a fast "qmake ; make" you can run "./svgrenderer kde" to show the KDE 
logo one next to another.

If you want to test more icons, you only need to copy them to the app folder 
(both the png and svgz version). Later do "zcat foo.svgz > foo.svg", since the 
svg renderer reads svg, not svgz.

However, you can see 4 outputs from this app here (just as an example of how 
bad is our svg drawing):
