the patch looks good from here, but 4.0.0 has already been tagged. if you 
consider this to be a bug fix type thing (i can see how one would; it 
provides useful information that can be helpful) then you can commit it to 
the 4.0 branch (just don't forget to also commit it to trunk/ of course ;)
