I didn't, actually... a full week of hacking does that to you. 
but I'll be able to look at it later together with your explanations.

I finally got around to looking at compiling this on OpenBSD again.
For now, it's just a shallow view. I'll probably dive in later.

At least libs, pimlibs, and base  are compiling with minimal fuss.
