Little problems with mimetypes

Is this about kde3 or kde4?
In kde4 the tool is called kbuildsycoca4, and it doesn't use desktop files anymore,
it uses /usr/share/mime (shared mime info).
If this is about kde3 then I have no clue, it should work as you describe.
