I have several instances of code in KDE3 -- ok, last year's news -- that 
create KAboutData because it's a useful container data class for information 
about authors and whatnot and there is code for creating a tab page in a 
dialog (i.e. in KAboutDialog) for displaying it.

Not sure if that qualifies, though. The creation of lots of aboutdatas with no 
explicit instance owning them happens in plugins.
