I guess it depends on what you mean with a reasonable state, but on a 
saturday, most kde (base, graphics, edu, games...) apps work pretty decent. 
Currently, it would make a very unstable alpha with several apps not working 
at all, but I can imagine this getting better the next few months.

And an alpha release would be good for KDE, I think. For those developers 
complaining about everything being unstable ('alpha' sounds usable for a 
developer, right?), and for those ppl claiming 'KDE4 is vaporware'.

Ok, normally an Alpha is more-or-less usable, this one won't really be. But 
being able to show just a few things before a crash (we need a funny crash 
dialog for alpha?) would be good enough for shows...
