Not really, there are platforms where "-devel" packages don't exist (and
binary packages aren't even the standard vehicle for installing software.)
A generic method to automatically add some suffix to filenames would nicely
work around problems with conflicting binaries. Didn't autoconf have a switch
for that? :P
