Broken KIO connections

Not that putting in an IP address works: I have a server running on 
localhost, and get this:

Creating socket:
   protocol:http
       host:127.0.0.1
       post:80
Socket state: 0 [UnconnectedState]
Socket error: 0 [ConnectionRefusedError]
Socket errorString: Connection refused

Same for 64.233.167.99 (www.google.com).
