Broken KIO connections

When I do this in synchronousConnectToHost(), after the 
waitForConnected, it gets:

Creating socket:
    protocol: http
          host: www.google.com
          port: 80
Socket state: 0 [UnconnectedState]
Socket error: 2 [HostNotFoundError]
Socket errorString: Host not found

(socket state/error read immediately after waitForConnected)

Needless to say, I checked that www.google.com works in konq 3.5.6.
