Running tests unattended

A long while ago, I tried compiling kdelibs and then running the tests in a 
cron job, but I had exactly the same problem as you have. Manually running 
the tests in an interactive shell worked just fine, but called from cron, 
they would only be killed after 1.5 hours or so.
