I like this idea. Unfortunately it conflicts with the shortcut Alt-Enter for 
the properties dialog of the currently selected item (which is a standard 
shortcut in GNOME and used identically in Konqueror).
We cannot use Alt-Space either, since that is eaten by the window manager in 
some KDE shortcut themes and in GNOME.
I don't mind using something different from F10, as long as we automatically 
enable F10 for the menu when a KDE application is started under GNOME or 
under Windows, while assuring that there is no conflict with an 
application-side use of F10. I have no idea how to do this technically in a 
reliable way, though. Agreeing with GNOME on standard shortcuts for all of 
Unix sees to be a more promising approach to me.
