Well, most often, as in always, I'm working on in a subdirectory where a 
smallish library is created that nothing else, or very little else, depends 
on. And even if other things depend on it, chances are that, nine times out 
of ten, my change won't mean the rest of KOffice needs to be checked. 

I may be expressing myself badly: I need my makefiles optimized for the 
situation where I work on a library deep into the hierarchy and get it 
compiled and installed as fast as possible. And I don't want to run cmake for 
every library in KOffice, that would be an incredible burden.
