Isn't solid meant for KDE4? I think Coolo proposes his patch for 3.X branch.

Speaking of which, mounting media devices through HAL in SuSE 10.1 is not very 
successful. New media appearance is detected, new konqueror window is popped 
up, but a completely different device from the one recently mounted is shown 
up (in my case I was mounting an USB key, but opening the CDRecorder was 
attempted). At least the correct device is correctly mounted by the system so 
I can browse to it through the file system (if I can guess the name of this 
particular usb key from the quite few USB_MEMORY* directories that show up 
in /media ;-)
