I didn't know that, it's excellent news.

I disagree that anything more than standing-out two-key shortcut is 
appropriate for layout switching, but it is indeed solution to general 
shortcut mess for non-Latin users.

Just for further clarification, which shortcuts are *not* going to be 
physical? I guess only Alt+something, or not?

Thinking of Latin users, though, I must wonder what will happen to current 
practice? Eg. Ctrl+Z is bottom row in en_US, and top row in de layout, and 
users are used to that.
