RPATH for installed binaries ?

Whats the problem with adding another file in /etc/ld.so.conf.d/package ? 
(besides that distro's screwups are not really a topic for this mailing 
list).

Because it has numerous problems and implications. And even if you put all 
that aside, it makes resolving of dynamic libraries slower.
