KDE4: Home folder files deleted

Does this only happen with "startkde"? I usually sent my env-vars and run my 
kde4-apps inside kde3 (without startkde or Xnest etc).

I'm asking because I can not afford to loose my ~/* directory... 
(surprise) ...wouldn't like that :)
