That's exactly what i think.

But then how will I play a single sound from kdeui ?

I'll add a sound-only feature in the passive popup daemon.  i think that's 
better to link kdeui against kdemm.

and in gnome ?  they just will have no sound, or  implement this also in their 
gtk daemon
