I'm not worried about register pressure, but I'd be very worried if this were 
true.  I think 32-bit x86 systems will be the majority of our users for quite 
some years to come.  Maybe for KDE 4.2 or 4.3 we can assume 64-bit, but I'd 
seriously be dismayed if KDE 4.0 were delayed so long to make your prediction 
true. ;)
