a part of KDE 3.4 patches for kicker

hi...

i'd like to backport the two attached patches for 3.4...

containerarealayout.cpp.diff handles putting the first item in a panel
properly. this, for instance, fixes the remaining issue with the menupanel of
it being shown off to the right instead of where it should be placed.

optimize_moves.diff makes moving panels from one side of the screen to the
other occur quickly. currently, it's possible to make it "hang" for up to 20s
or more on a 1Ghz machine. the changes basically amount to re-ording some
method invocations and ensuring things are repainted a gazillion times.

there are many other issues with kicker in 3.4 that i know of, but these seem
to be the more pressing and were the two last items on my "must do for 3.4"
list.
